She was also crowned as Miss World in 1994, made the country proud after which she ventured into the world of acting in 1997 with the Tamil film Iruvar. However, in 2000 when she fell down the stairs outside her home and got injured, it gave ruse to rumours that Salman Khan had beaten her which led to the fall. A video clip of one of her earlier interviews with Karan Thapar has resurfaced on social media in which she addressed the rumours and clarified what actually happened.

When Karan Thapar inquired about the incident, she said, “I don’t know what to say about as to why, how can I answer to why people claim or say what they do but the fact is that I slipped. I actually passed out and I fell down the stairs outside my house and that’s exactly what happened.”

 

He then asked if her fall was due to exhaustion and had no connection to Salman Khan. In response, Aishwarya clarified the situation, setting the record straight. “Obviously, I mean yes but then obviously you can’t go around saying ‘oh I am too exhausted and I fainted because then you know, what then the industry would panic at that point in time and then turn around and say oh is it overwork and is this what’s happening.”

Back in 2000, while juggling a hectic schedule with films like Boney Kapoor’s Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, Mansoor Khan’s Josh, and various events, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan experienced a mishap when she fell down the stairs at her Mumbai residence. Although she escaped with no fractures, doctors recommended a week of complete bed rest. Despite rumours implicating Salman Khan in the incident, Aishwarya, in a resurfaced interview, clarified that the fall was caused by exhaustion and firmly denied his involvement.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan shared the screen in the blockbuster Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The duo were allegedly rumoured to be dating but then pair reportedly parted ways shortly after. The duo never worked together after that film.
