The threat message was received on the Mumbai traffic police helpline and was read by an officer around midnight. The person who sent the message claimed to be the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The message stated that if Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to the Bishnoi community temple and apologize or pay Rs 5 crore.
