‘Amitabh Bachchan used a small washroom on set and I thought if he could use this, then who am I,’ recalls Sanjay Mishra

Sanjay Mishra recalled how Amitabh Bachchan was very warm to him when they shot for an ad back in 1997.

Actor Sanjay Mishra, who will next be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, recently went down memory lane and recalled his first shooting experience with Amitabh Bachchan. He recalled shooting an ad with the movie star and how he initially felt like someone was pranking him when they told him about the opportunity.

Sanjay shared with Bollywood Bubble that he first got a call for the ad in 1997-1998. “Someone told me that Bachchan ji had called me. I thought a friend was playing a prank. Then again the call came and it was Amitabh Bachchan, but I didn’t take it seriously. When I came home I was told that a call had come and I was supposed to meet them. So we met, I touched Bachchan sir’s feet and said that was my wish to work with him before dying. And he quickly asked kiske marne ke pehle? (before whose death?)”

Sanjay said that he had “butterflies in my stomach” as he shot with Amitabh. He also recalled an incident where he realised that Bachchan was the most easy going star he had ever seen. “I asked the production team if I could use a washroom, they pointed towards it and I did not like it. I said it’s so small, after some time Bachchan ji used the same washroom to freshen up. I told myself if he could use this, then who am I? Then even I used the washroom,” he recalled.

He said that at the shoot, when he kept mispronouncing the brand’s name, Bachchan realised that he was from Delhi and this put him at ease. “He made me feel so relaxed. I was a nobody, and he was a big star. Yet, my day with him was beautiful,” he said.

Sanjay also recalled that when he later dubbed for the ad, Bachchan praised his work which boosted his confidence. “He lauded me for doing a great job in the ad. I saw it and told him yes, I did a great job only by being in it with him,” he said.
