When Preity Zinta was pissed off at Tusshar Kapoor after he remarked her face reminded him of ‘cosmetic surgery’ on Koffee with Karan, here’s what happened next!

Tusshar Kapoor once caused a bit of a controversy after a comment he made about Preity Zinta’s appearance in a 2011 episode of Koffee with Karan.

Tusshar Kapoor, an actor and producer in Bollywood, is known for his diverse roles in both comedic and dramatic films. Son of veteran actor Jeetendra and younger brother of TV producer Ekta Kapoor, he made his debut in 2001 with Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, a film that brought him early recognition. However, he is most celebrated for his comedic role as Lucky in the Golmaal series, where his unique portrayal of a mute character became a fan favorite.

While the actor has largely avoided controversies, he once caused a bit of a controversy after a comment he made about Preity Zinta’s appearance in a 2011 episode of Koffee with Karan. The actress was quite offended by his comment.

Tusshar Kapoor joined his sister, television producer Ekta Kapoor, on Koffee with Karan for an entertaining episode. In the rapid-fire round, Karan Johar threw a bold question his way, asking him to share “the first name that comes to your mind when I say ‘cosmetic surgery.’” Without much hesitation, Tusshar responded, “Preity Zinta.” Realizing the potential stir his answer could cause, he quickly covered his mouth, visibly surprised by his own response. He added, “Ouch. I’m sorry, that was just to win the hamper.” Karan put him at ease, and said, “It’s fine.”

However, things took a turn. Preity Zinta wasn’t happy with Tusshar’s comment. According to a PTI report, Preity reached out to him to express her disappointment before the episode aired. Tusshar Kapoor shared with PTI, “Preity called me. She was upset and I cleared my stand. Everyone knows that Karan’s rapid-fire round is just for laughs. You don’t even have the time to think when Karan puts you in the dock. Recently, I saw Preity’s picture in a magazine and she was looking stunning having lost a lot of weight. So, when Karan asked, Preity’s name just came out at the spur of the moment. There’s nothing more to it.”

He continued, “I’ve loved Preity since Soldier. I didn’t mean to hurt her and I’m feeling bad that my comment turned into such an ugly controversy. I’m glad that we spoke and sorted it out rather than letting it snowball into something worse. I don’t even know what botox actually is, and why will I say something like this about someone who I truly respect.”

The latest season of Koffee with Karan, season 8, took on a noticeably toned-down approach compared to its earlier, more provocative seasons. Karan Johar steered clear of asking his guests potentially controversial questions, especially during the rapid-fire rounds. Ranking-based questions, once a staple of the show, were almost entirely removed. Last year’s lineup included popular guests like Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, as well as Akshay Kumar and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
