The upcoming Diwali box office clash between Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again and Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has taken a serious turn. With only days left before their November 1 release, T-Series, the producers of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, have reached out to the Competition Commission of India (CCI), accusing the makers of Singham Again of unfair practices regarding screen allocation.

T-Series has urged the CCI, a body responsible for ensuring fair competition and consumer welfare, to intervene and guarantee an equal split in theatre screen time. The production house is pushing for a 50-50 screen allocation between the two films.

A source told indianexpress.com, “PVR Pictures, the distributor of Singham Again, has secured over 60 percent of the shows at PVR Inox theatres for the film. Additionally, several single-screen theatres have been instructed to reserve all showtimes for Singham Again, with some theatres only offering Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 early morning slots.”

Facing a potential disadvantage at the box office, T-Series decided to escalate the matter to the CCI, requesting equal show distribution between the two Diwali releases.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time such a conflict has occurred for Ajay Devgn. The actor previously approached the CCI in 2012 when his film Son of Sardaar clashed with Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan during the Diwali season, alleging a similar issue.

Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty, stars a powerhouse cast, including Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor and Jackie Shroff. Meanwhile, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 brings back Kartik Aaryan, along with Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri, raising the stakes for this box office showdown.

Both films are set to release on November 1, making this one of the most significant clashes of the year.

Diwali is set to be a blockbuster this year, with two major films hitting the big screens—Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, both releasing on November 1, 2024. Both movies have generated significant buzz, and fans eagerly await their release. As advance bookings in India hang in the balance, with neither movie distributor willing to compromise, international bookings have already opened, giving an early look at which film is leading and which is trailing.

Singham Again vs Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Advance Box Office Collection

According to a report, Singham Again is leading Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 by around 85%. The report states that Singham Again has sold 505 tickets in advance, amounting to sales worth 28,900 AED, while Kartik Aaryan’s horror-comedy has sold 269 tickets, valued at 15,700 AED.

At Regal Cinemas in the USA, the Ajay Devgn-led film has achieved $5,500 in ticket sales, outpacing the $3,000 garnered by Kartik Aaryan’s feature. This trend extends beyond Regal to Cinemark and other theater chains. Similarly, in major international markets like the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, Singham Again is outpacing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

In terms of budget, the two films differ significantly. While both are backed by successful franchises, Singham Again has a comparatively larger scale, cast, and budget. Observing these international figures, it appears Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again may have the edge over Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. However, since neither film features a star with substantial international pull, the gap remains inconclusive, as these international figures alone may not provide a clear comparison.

Meanwhile,  Singham Again will feature Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, and Jackie Shroff. On the other hand, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 stars Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit.
