Did you know Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor once shared a love and hate relationship. In fact, Kareena was also once insecure of Deepika’s closeness with Saif Ali Khan.

True cinema lovers will know that Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor don’t share a good rapport. Although not very controversial, the two leading ladies once had a catfight. They even exchanged cryptic sarcastic dialogues on public forums, however, never gave a direct confirmation of their feud. Be it Deepika bagging films rejected by Kareena, which then turned into blockbusters or Kareena claiming that she has made a career of many actresses by rejecting these good films, the two actresses share a love-hate relationship between the two. Notably, it’s been years since the incidents and their catfight has not mellowed down yet.

As a reminder, Deepika Padukone did a series of films with Kareena’s husband, Saif Ali Khan, who was then her boyfriend.

Kareena Kapoor’s insecurity

There were rumours that Kareena Kapoor of insecure about Deepika Padukone’s back-to-back films with her then-boyfriend Saif Ali Khan and their bond. Commenting on the same, Deepika Padukone had told Cosmopolitan, “Well that’s her insecurity I can’t do anything about that. But we’ve had no problems. In fact, when she came to London, we got along well. We went out one night. She was on set and watching the shoot even in Hyderabad. As far as I know, there is nothing wrong. I don’t think she has anything to worry about.”

To add to it, Deepika was cast in Love Aaj Kal opposite Said even though Imtiaz Ali, the filmmaker, had once promised Kareena the film. Kareena was hopeful and even Saif, who was co-producing the film wanted his girlfriend to be a part of the film. It was expected that Deepika would be unapologetic about it, she in fact supported her.

Supporting the Jab We Met actress, the Piku actress said, “Kareena was never on the sets even once when I was shooting with Saif, because, she is not the type of girl who is insecure about her man. Kareena knows that she is brilliant as an actress. If I were in her place, and I was not cast in my boyfriend’s film, even I would have felt the same like Kareena, if she felt that she should have been the leading lady opposite Saif in Love Aaj Kal and not me.”

Deepika added, “Just because her boyfriend is the producer of the film and Imtiaz Ali who is the director of the film is her favourite director after she worked with him in Jab We Met, she did not demand that I should be replaced in Love Aaj Kal by her.”

Deepika Padukone gives it back

Following the incidents, Kareena made shocking revelations about Koffee with Karan. She revealed that she was the first choice for Chennai Express and Ram Leela however, she turned them down. Furthermore, Kareena mentioned that she is the only actress who can proudly say that she has given away films to other actresses, indirectly hinting at Deepika, since both the films went to the Padmavat actress

After Kareena had said this, Deepika did not hold back either. On the same show in a different episode, Deepika Padukone was asked what profession she would choose if not acting. To this, she wittily replied, ‘charity’.
