Bhagyashree recalls Salman Khan consoled her after every shot of Mere Rang Mein: 'I would just burst into tears because my parents were against my marriage'

Salman Khan and Bhagyashree, who were making their film debuts, had a significant boost in their careers thanks to Sooraj Barjatya’s 1989 film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. The romantic drama is presently screening in theaters close to you. Many people are unaware that during the film’s production, Bhagyashree was going through severe personal turmoil, despite the fact that everything appeared stunning and dreamlike to us.

During a conversation with HT City, the 55-year-old recently disclosed that she used to bawl her eyes out when filming the famous ‘Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali’ scene. “We were shooting the most romantic song of the film, and it’s uncanny that I was going through so much stress at that time because my parents were against my marriage. After every shot, I would just burst into tears, and Salman and Sooraj ji would try to calm me down,” Bhagyashree shared.
People adored Bhagyashree and Salman Khan’s chemistry, and fortunately, the two got along well off-set as well. “Salman was a brat and a really naughty boy on the sets. He would constantly pull my leg,” said Bhagyashree. She further added that will always remember their innocent companionship and disclosed how fiercely protective Khan was of her, always making sure she was safe and doing well when they were among the crowd.
This year marks Maine Pyar Kiya’s 35th anniversary, and Bhagyashree even wrote a lengthy message in honour of the occasion. The Paayal actress said on Instagram earlier today that love never stops growing, even after all these years. I feel blessed to have been part of a film that is written in the history of our film industry,” Bhagyashree added.

The diva feels that her movie is a true love story that connects with everyone. She says that viewers made sure to carry those moments home, fell in love, and included Salman and Bhagyashree on their first dates and anniversaries. “A film that got families together, and of course got the theatres started again,” the actress said. She also expressed her gratitude towards Salman, Sooraj, and Rajshri.
‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, directed by Sooraj Barjatya, is still the highest-grossing Indian movie from the 1980s.
