Ranbir Kapoor opens up on 'sacrifices' in marriage with Alia Bhatt; 'she changed more for me than I have changed for her'

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot on April 14, 2022, after dating for a few years. They held an intimate ceremony at their Mumbai residence for just family and close friends.

The ‘Animal’ actor noted that she (Alia) is also letting go of her personality.
Ranbir explained that in any marriage, adjustments and sacrifices are essential for mutual happiness. He emphasized that it’s unrealistic to expect both people to remain exactly as they are, highlighting the importance of making each other’s lives more comfortable through compromise.
When asked about Alia Bhatt as a person, Ranbir described Alia as a wonderful person with a vibrant personality, noting that she is 11 years younger than him. He shared that he first met Alia when she was just 9 years old and he was 20 or 21, during a photo shoot for a movie project that Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to make called Balika Vadhu. At that time, Ranbir was assisting Bhansali on ‘Black’. He reflected on how it feels a bit strange now, but he has always respected Alia deeply, both as an actor and as a person. He mentioned that over the years, he has come to admire her even more and values their time together, enjoying both their holidays and the moments spent at home.

Ranbir Kapoor mentioned that Alia Bhatt has made significant changes for him, more so than he has for her, and he acknowledged that he should also make some changes. He noted that Alia used to speak in a very loud tone, which she adjusted because of his background and his father’s tone, despite having spoken that way for 30 years. He also observed that Alia has an instinctive reaction to situations, like when their child Raha falls, which sometimes throws him off. He appreciated that she makes efforts to accommodate his needs and put him at ease.

For the unversed, on November 6 of the same year, they welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor. The couple posed for a family picture with Raha for the paparazzi on Christmas 2023 for the first time and it was all things adorable.
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently filming for Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated project, ‘Ramayana’. In this much-awaited film, Ranbir is set to portray the role of Ram, while Sai Pallavi will take on the role of Sita. The film will also feature Arun Govil as Dashrath and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi. Additionally, there are reports suggesting that Sunny Deol might be cast as Hanuman, although this has yet to be officially confirmed.
