Amitabh Bachchan’s Wealth and Legacy: A Balanced Distribution Between His Children

At 82, Amitabh Bachchan, the “Shahenshah” of Bollywood, continues to reign supreme in the entertainment industry. Not only has he maintained his work ethic, but his fortune has grown substantially over the years. Recently, he was featured in the Hurun India Rich List 2024, where he was named Bollywood’s fourth richest personality with an estimated wealth of around ₹3,000 crore.

However, discussions surrounding his wealth reached a peak when reports surfaced that Amitabh and his wife, Jaya Bachchan, had transferred ownership of their iconic Mumbai bungalow, Prateeksha, to their daughter Shweta Bachchan. This sparked widespread debate on social media, with speculations that the couple was sidelining their daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai and granddaughter Aaradhya in favor of their daughter.

But in reality, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan had planned the distribution of their immense wealth long ago. In an interview in 2011, Big B revealed that he would equally divide his property between his two children, Abhishek and Shweta. He emphasized that he does not believe in gender-based discrimination and that both his son and daughter have equal rights to his wealth. He reiterated this in 2017, stating that he intends to ensure a fair division of his assets.

Amitabh’s properties are as grand as his legacy. In Mumbai alone, he owns five bungalows, along with three luxurious apartments. In addition, he has multiple homes abroad, including a house in France, gifted by Jaya Bachchan. The family bungalow Prateeksha, recently gifted to Shweta, is valued at over ₹50 crore.

With his meticulous planning and equal distribution of wealth, Amitabh Bachchan continues to be not only a powerhouse of talent but also a fair and thoughtful patriarch. His legacy is set to be shared equally between both his children, ensuring fairness and unity within the Bachchan family.
