Suffering from a rare progeria syndrome, little girl Lucy, although only 8 years old, has the appearance and physical condition of an old person.

There are many strange diseases that occur in children from a young age. One of these diseases is Hutchinson Gilford Progeria syndrome, also known as progeria syndrome. This is a rare genetic disease that causes the patient to age from a very young age, occurring in only 1 case in 4 million people.

In 4 million new cases, there is 1 case of premature aging like an 8-year-old baby but with the appearance of a 70-year-old woman. - Photo 1.

Lucy Parke from Ballyward, County Down, Ireland is one of the unfortunate ones who was diagnosed with this syndrome right from birth. Despite her young age, she has aged very quickly and has the appearance of an elderly person. In addition,  her small body also has to fight other complications such as atherosclerosis, heart disease, poor memory, etc.

At present, there is no specific treatment for this rare syndrome. Therefore, most patients die before the age of 13, and  very few live to the age of 20.

Although heartbroken, the Parke family has confirmed this. They have also prepared for the departure of little Lucy.  After a long struggle with illness, the family recently confirmed that little Lucy passed away at the age of 8.

The family shared on social media that they had lost their precious Lucy. Although her body was fragile, her heart was strong. Lucy’s love for life and her bright smile were what made them so proud to be her parents.

Lucy’s family has previously established the Lucy Parke Progeria Foundation to help treat and improve her life. The family has received support and assistance from the philanthropic community around the world. After Lucy’s death, the fund will be used to help other unfortunate children with Progeria syndrome.
