In recent news, the focus has shifted to the ongoing operations against Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, specifically as Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, intensifies his efforts to tackle organized crime. Known for his firm stance on law enforcement, CM Yogi has vowed to dismantle gang networks operating in Uttar Pradesh and beyond, extending his focus on criminals like Lawrence Bishnoi, who recently issued threats to prominent figures, including politician Pappu Yadav and even actor Salman Khan. With the law enforcement agencies now under direct orders from the state government, it is clear that Bishnoi and his associates face a stringent crackdown.

Background of Lawrence Bishnoi and His Operations

Currently detained in Gujarat’s high-security Sabarmati Jail, Bishnoi is still suspected of orchestrating criminal activities nationwide, despite the maximum security measures surrounding him. Reports from surveillance footage reveal that Bishnoi maintains a strict daily routine, including prayers and fitness sessions, symbolizing his disciplined yet vigilant lifestyle behind bars. His day begins early, around 5 AM, with worship and meditation, reflecting his adherence to spiritual practices. Known as a devout follower of Hindu deities, he reportedly maintains a vegetarian diet, primarily consuming fruits and dairy products.

While Bishnoi is physically restrained in his jail cell, sources allege that he continues to operate his vast criminal network with associates spread across India and internationally in regions such as the U.S., Canada, Malaysia, and various European countries. His close associate, Goldy Brar, based in Canada, is suspected to be a key contact who relays Bishnoi’s commands to other gang members, executing his instructions with a high degree of precision and loyalty. Despite his confinement, Bishnoi’s control over his operations has raised significant concerns, sparking debates on the effectiveness of security measures in Indian prisons.

Threats to Prominent Figures

Bishnoi’s gang has recently issued threats to notable individuals, including politicians and celebrities. One such incident involves Bihar MP Pappu Yadav, who allegedly received death threats from Bishnoi’s gang following Yadav’s criticism of their activities. A recorded call purportedly from Bishnoi’s gang member Aman Sahu issued clear warnings to Yadav, intensifying the security concerns around him. Similarly, actor Salman Khan and comedian Munawar Faruqui have also reportedly been on Bishnoi’s radar for past grievances, especially following the high-profile blackbuck poaching case involving Khan. The Bishnoi community, which reveres the blackbuck, holds the actor responsible, demanding an apology from him in their community temple.

CM Yogi Adityanath’s Response to Organized Crime

Determined to curtail the growing influence of gang networks, CM Yogi Adityanath has initiated several measures to address this issue in Uttar Pradesh. His administration has long been recognized for its zero-tolerance approach to gang violence, previously taking decisive actions against notorious criminals, including Vikas Dubey, Atiq Ahmed, and Mukhtar Ansari. The Uttar Pradesh Police, under CM Yogi’s command, has systematically targeted criminal networks by eliminating key operatives and dismantling gang structures through rapid law enforcement action.

This anti-mafia stance has been bolstered by recent statements from retired DGP AK Jain, who affirmed that the administration is committed to eradicating gang influence within the state. The increased crackdown on Bishnoi’s network in Uttar Pradesh demonstrates the administration’s resolve, as CM Yogi’s regime has directed law enforcement agencies to take stringent actions, ensuring that criminals can no longer operate freely within state boundaries.

Bishnoi’s Attempts to Avoid Uttar Pradesh Custody

Reports suggest that Bishnoi, aware of the intense scrutiny he would face in Uttar Pradesh, has actively sought to avoid being transferred to the state’s prisons. This reluctance reflects his understanding of the firm enforcement policies adopted by the UP government. The CM’s stringent approach has made Uttar Pradesh prisons a feared destination for notorious criminals, known for their strict enforcement and vigilance under Yogi’s governance.

The growing concerns surrounding Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang activities have spurred action at multiple levels of governance. With the UP Police stepping up their efforts, the message is clear: organized crime will not be tolerated, and gang influence is being actively eradicated across state lines. The challenge remains in effectively curbing Bishnoi’s international connections and disrupting his communications with gang members outside prison.

As CM Yogi Adityanath’s administration continues its rigorous campaign, it highlights the broader impact of stringent law enforcement policies on deterring criminal networks from operating with impunity.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Basic Education Department to proceed according to the Allahabad High Court’s order asking the state government to prepare a new merit list to appoint 69,000 assistant teachers within three months. During a meeting with officials on Sunday, Adityanath said that the state government firmly believed that the benefit of reservation should be extended to all reserved category candidates, ensuring that no candidate faced injustice.

The chief minister was briefed by the Basic Education Department on all aspects of the court’s decision regarding the recruitment of 69,000 assistant teachers, according to an official statement. The court’s decision had caused anxiety among teachers from the general and OBC categories who are currently employed.

However, the CM assured that the new merit list will respect reservation policies and that no teacher will lose their job as a result. He also emphasised that all eligible candidates from reserved categories will benefit from constitutional reservation provisions, and directed officials to devise a solution to safeguard the interests of current teachers.

The government also decided against appealing the High Court’s decision to the Supreme Court. According to reports, approximately 5,000 teachers might be adversely affected by the new merit list. In light of this, CM Adityanath instructed officials to collaborate with the Advocate General to prepare a new merit list and to develop a proposal to address the concerns of affected teachers.

The high court’s ruling, which mandates the cancellation of the old merit list and the preparation of a new one, has prompted the Basic Education Department and government officials to thoroughly examine the implications of the order.

In the recent ruling, a bench of the Allahabad High Court comprising Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Brijraj Singh set aside the selection lists issued in June 2020 and January 2022, which included 6,800 candidates of the reserved categories.

The bench also revised the earlier order and said the reserved category candidates who qualify for the general category merit list should be migrated to that category. In addition, the benefit of vertical reservation should also be extended to horizontal reservation categories, PTI reported the court’s statement as saying
